Fulham went in to today’s clash against fierce rivals Chelsea looking to carry on from their 1-0 win at home to Leicester City.
Chelsea started the game on top and were unlucky not to score early on after Martell Taylor-Crossdale’s cross was expertly headed clear by Moritz Jens before falling to Taye Ashby-Hammond.
The visitors continued to push and created a number of chances. Harvey St Clair managed to find space after Callum Hudson-Odoi found him unmarked but his chance was well saved by Ashby-Hammond.
With both teams going in to the break without a goal Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson came the closest for the Whites but his fierce curling effort was unfortunately denied by the crossbar.
With two minutes to go it looked like both teams would be leaving Motspur Park with a point but Chelsea managed to break through the Fulham defence and after Charlie Brown had hit the post and unmarked Luke McCormick was there to smash the ball past Ashby-Hammond.
Two minutes in to stoppage time the visitors won themselves a free-kick and up stepped Taylor-Crossdale who managed to secure the three points for his side after his effort took the slightest of deflections.
