Fulham U18s fall to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Reading at Motspur Park on Saturday in the first game of 2017.

Fulham Under-18s fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Reading in the first game of 2017 at Motspur Park on Saturday afternoon.

A first half strike from Teddy Howe saw the visitors lead at the intermission and then follow it up with two second half goals to run out comfrotable winners.

A tentative start from both sides saw clear cut chances few and far between. However, Reading enjoyed large sways of possession and eventually broke the deadlock in the 27th minute. Experiencing some joy down the right flank, Teddy Howe cut in from the right wing and placed a shot into the bottom left hand corner past Taye Ashby-Hammond to take the early lead.

Reading were close to doubling their lead just before half-time when a short back pass from Michael Elstone evaded Ashby-Hammond in the Fulham net but the Reading striker could not make the most of the opportunity and put his shot into the side netting.

Mark Pembridge shook things up at half-time and made two changes and the Whites had an early opporunity to level after Steven Sessegnon was felled in the box. Matt O'Riley was unable to convert the spot kick and the Fulham paid the price ten minutes later.

The Royals experiencing more joy down the right flank, when the goal scorer Howe laid it on a platter for Cameron Green to side foot home from close range.

Fulham continued to press and Esltone went close on three occassions before the encounter was put beyond doubt with 5 minutes to go.

Fulham have a chance to bounce back in one week as the young Whites make the trip to Boro.
