Fulham were knocked out of the quarter-final of the PL Cup on Saturday morning.

Fulham’s Under-18s were knocked out of the Premier League Cup quarter-final in their away trip to Everton. The Toffees scored in both halves and the referee sent Nicolas Santos-Clase off with a straight red with 10 minutes to go.

The first attacking threat came from the Young Whites. Tyrese Francois sprayed a ball out to the left wing for Joe Felix, the left back put a decent ball into the box but it was defended well the Toffees.

Fulham had the first shot of the match as well. 10 minutes in, Santos-Clase received the ball at the edge of the D, he turned and fired on sight. His shot took a deflection and was heading for the top left corner but a good diving save kept the score level.

Everton were pressing high up the pitch but the Young Whites were doing well under the pressure. However, Everton were the ones with the breakthrough 17 minutes in.

Anthony Gordan, with a quick one-two into the left of the box had took ball at his feet, he slipped his shot to the right of Luca Ashby-Hammond to make it 1-0.

Fulham thought they had equalised in the 34th minute. Santos-Clase was dispossessed on the left wing, but he chased his man down and got hold of the ball once more and pinged a low ball into the box for Jayden Harris.

The midfielder’s shot went in off the keeper, but the referee blew up and denied the goal afterwards, he must have seen a foul in the build up.

Fulham won several corners from either side, but the Toffees held strong for the remainder of first half.

The Young Whites came out of the blocks for the second half. Within 90 seconds Timmy Abraham shot at goal from 10-yards out, his effort came off the bottom right post.

Santos-Clase in the next minute skipped down the left wing and pulled a ball back into a dangerous area, it was intercepted at the vital moment.

Fulham were starting to dominate the play. Felix took a pop at goal from 25-yards out, but the deflection took the sting out of the shot.

The Young Whites went closest 63 minutes in, Santos-Clase ran across the goal and fired hard into a packed box, the ball pinged around and Abraham got the last touch, directing it inches wide.

Even though all the pressure was coming from the Young Whites, it was Everton that widened the gap. The Toffees won a free kick from the right, and whipped a ball at pace into the box.

The ball deflected of Jaydn Mundle-Smith who had been having a good game, and into the top left corner to make it 2-0 with 20 minutes to play.

The referee sent off Santos-Clase with 10 minute to go as he made a late tackle. The referee made four bookings in the final 10 minutes.

The Young Whites worked hard till the end, but were not able to get back on level terms.
