Fulham put four past Villa in the PL Cup to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Fulham beat Aston Villa 4-0 in the Premier League Cup on Saturday morning.

The Young Whites came into this match without losing their opening four matches of the season in the league.

The first five minutes the Whites worked were attacking hard, Dan Martin won a corner down the right, which was followed by a succession of crosses.

Fulham went close in the 7th minute, as Jayen Harris created space with a trick and pit Showkat Tahir through with a ball, his cross was blocked and Timmy Abraham was inches away from getting his head on the ball.

When the Young Whites lost possession Reece York was doing well to sweep up the ball with some big tackles in midfield, Harris was also being very effective.

After one turn over from York, he sent a quick ball to Elias Frei down on the right wing in the 12th minute, and he cut in and shot

It was a good save from Keiran Boucher, and Abraham was waiting to poke the rebound into the net but a defender sandwiched himself between the attacker and the ball and managed to clear the danger.

Five minutes later Djed Spence tried to whip a ball into the box for the on-running York, but a Villa defender intercepted at the vital second.

York was having a good game, in the 18th minute he had another chance with his head from a corner but headed his effort wide.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 23rd minute, with the Whites taking the advantage they deserved. Spence put a perfect ball into the box and Abraham drilled it from close range past the keeper.

Abraham had another chance a few minutes later from a 10 yards out but skied it over the bar.

The half was a frustrating one, and althought the Young Whites were a goal to the good, there was a feeling that missed chances could come back to haunt them.

However that was not the case, captain Jose Garrido doubled the White’s advantage in the 59th minute. Tahir whipped a ball into the box and Spence bulleted a header towards the left side.

A Villa defender was needed to clear it off the line, but the Spaniard poked the ball into the back of the net for his first goal for the Club.

Five minutes later the game was all but secured by Frei. York played a ball down the right wing, and he looked as if he would cross but instead decided to shoot himself. He shot across the face of goal and into the back of the net to make it 3-0.

The Young Whites were not finished there, and with a quarter of an hour left on the clock, Spence sprinted down the right, unlike Frei it was clear he had one objective.

Bearing down on goal he shot hard near post, beating the keeper to make it 4-0.

The rest of the match was spent preserving their clean sheet, which Fulham did effectively by keeping the ball.
