The Young Whites rallied from a goal down to make it into the Quarter-Finals of the FA Youth Cup.

Fulham’s Under-18s booked themselves a place in the Quarter-Final of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday evening when they beat Plymouth Argyle 3-1 after extra time.

Plymouth had the upper hand after a strong first half when Klaidi Lolos opened the scoring. Fulham rallied for the second half as Nicolas Santos-Clase levelled on his 18th birthday.

15-year-old Fabio Carvalho and then Jayden Harris finished off the match in both halves of extra-time, and Luca Ashby-Hammond saved a penalty in the final minutes.

Fulham needed no time to settle into the match and were attacking from the off. Within 60 seconds, Sonny Hilton sliced a ball across the six-yard line but no one was able to get on the end.

Steven Sessegnon darted forward from the back and slipped a ball to Santos-Clase running into the box, some good defending sent the ball for a corner.

Plymouth fired a warning shot in the 19th minute, Lolos struck a thunderous effort from over 30-yards out. Ashby-Hammond was forced into a block.

It was the Pilgrims who made the breakthrough four minutes later. Matt Ward won the ball in midfield and sent a through ball to Lolos, Joe Felix dived in but the striker turned quickly and poked the ball past the onrushing Ashby-Hammond.

The hosts started to dominate the second half, almost scoring in the 27th minute. Ashby-Hammond was forced to sprint out of his box and close down Lolos close to the touchline, he chipped the keeper and just missed the inside of the left upright.

Fulham started the quicker of the two teams in the second half, Chris Kelly and Djed Spence shooting from either side. The Young Whites were winning corners but Argyle were holding fast.

Fulham had a barrage of half chances on the Pilgrims’ goal. 58 minutes in Spence motored down the right and cut a ball to Santos-Clase at the edge of the area, he offloaded to Tyrese Francois and his shot was charged down.

In the next minute Kelly drilled a ball across goal, any touch would have sent it into the back of the net.

Fulham were brought back into the match in the 69th minute through Santos-Clase. The Spaniard received the ball at the edge of the area right of the goal, he took a step and fired for the bottom left. Cooper was rooted to the spot and the ball tucked in off the left post.

Both teams were attacking at full tilt towards the end, Felix almost finished off the tie in the 87th minute. He was slipped through on goal for a one-on-one and Cooper did extraordinarily well to get off his line and dive on the shot.

Cooper then made a double save to deny Santos-Clase and Francois from inside the box.

The match went to extra-time and Fulham threw everything at the Pilgrims. Super-sub Carvalho with a one-two worked his way into the box and with a deft touch put Fulham in front for the first time.

Harris finally put the game out of reach in the 109th minute, he won the ball using his strength in midfield and bore down on goal. The keeper rushed out and Harris calmly slotted under him to put Fulham into the Quarter-Finals.

In the dying minutes the Pilgrims almost found a way back into the match through a penalty, but Ashby-Hammond dived to his right and made a fantastic save on his line to make sure there would be no nervous final minutes.

The Young Whites will host either Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea at Craven Cottage in the next round.
