Fulham were held to a draw at Motspur Park on Saturday, coming from a goal behind.

Fulham drew 2-2 to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon at Motspur Park. Timmy Abraham opened the scoring, but two first half goals in quick succession from the Canaries saw them take the lead.

Nicolas Santos-Clase scored the equaliser in the first minute of the second half, but the Young Whites were left frustrated after dominating the match which ended with points shared.

The first ten minutes Fulham were working their way into the game finding their rhythm.

Fulham’s first half-chance came in the 10th minute, Cameron Thompson drove across the field and worked the ball to Santos-Clase in the D, the Spaniard struck at goal but a block came in for a corner.

15 minutes in and it was Norwich next to attack down the right from Adam Idem, Scott Armsworth managed to keep him at bay. From the corner Armsworth was called into action again to make a block on the 6-yard line.

Fulham broke quickly, Connor Parsons fouled Dan Martin sprinting down the left.

Thompson picked up the ball as the ref played advantage and Martin picked himself up and raced forward to support. The left-back received the ball and shot across the face of goal, just missing the target.

Two minutes later Fulham won a corner, Thompson headed just over the bar, the pressure was building.

In the 20th minute Fulham made the breakthrough they deserved, Thompson to the right passed to Abraham in-front of goal and he struck the ball into the back of the net.

Six minutes later the Young Whites went close again, Santos-Clase dribbled past a couple of Norwich defenders in the box, tight to the line and slipped a ball across the box for Abraham who arrived a fraction early.

Showkat Tahir found the ball and attempted to shoot on sight, but a block came in to deny the shot.

Norwich equalised 34 minutes into the match from a corner, the ball was whipped to the front post and Idam headed into the left of the goal to bring the match level.

The goal gave Norwich confidence and they started dominating possession and territory for the next five minutes.  The Canaries took advantage of their spell in the 40th minute.

They worked their way into the area, Armsworth made a block but the ball got stuck under his foot when he tried to clear, and the ball was smashed into the back of the net by Rui De Costa.

Julian Schwarzer made a couple of crucial saves before the break to keep Fulham in the match.

The Young Whites were straight back in it for the second half. Less than a minute in, Abraham used his strength to hold off two defenders and offloaded to Thompson. With a burst of pace he beat his defender and rifled a ball through the box.

Santos-Clase took one touch to control, then slammed the ball into the back of the net for the equaliser.

That goal swung the match back in Fulham’s favour, Abraham registered another shot on target soon after, and Joe Felix floated ball to the back post that was defended well.

In the 57th minute the Young Whites went close to taking the lead. Tahir floated a ball over the defence for Abraham, who let it bounce before striking the ball, but by that time the defence had recovered and prevented the shot.

Thompson had the next big chance 68 minutes in, a searching ball from Martin found him at the back post, but at an awkward high he could only skew a shot over the bar.

There was a multitude of chances created by the Young Whites, Armsworth headed on target, York and Santos-Clase had shots blocked in the area, and Kelly just shot wide of the mark.

With 10 mintues left to play Felix had a great chance, through on goal he shot near post and the ‘keeper had to claw it off the line to prevent the lead.

With three minutes left in the match Kelly turned a ball into the box from the left wing, and Thompson couldn’t steer his header under the bar under pressure. It was a day of frustration for the Young Whites, however they did come from behind to earn a point at Motspur Park.
