Fulham Under-18s couldn’t build on their draw against Swansea City as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the Recon Training Complex on Saturday.

Fulham Under-18s couldn’t build on their draw against Swansea City as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the Recon Training Complex on Saturday.

Goals from Dimitri Sea and Colin Adutayo in the 11th and 83rd minute respectively, condemned the Young Whites to their first defeat of the season.

Villa created chances early on and were rewarded when Sea connected with a cross to give the hosts the lead. Fulham re-grouped well and began to move the ball with a higher tempo, creating chances to level the game.

However, the game was killed off seven minutes from time. A swift Villa break was squared to substitute Odutayo for him to tap home and secure all three points for the hosts.

Under-18s Head Coach Colin Omogbehin rued the missed chances his side had to level the game up.

“The game was close for the majority of the 90 minutes,” he told fulhamfc.com. “They created some chances early on, it was a threat that they kept getting crosses in down the left-hand side.

“We had a few chances to equalise and we didn’t capitalise on them. In the second half we turned possession over quickly and given it away cheaply in our attempt to get back into the game.

“The gaps started to appear when we were trying to equalise. Naturally we tried to get on the front foot. It’s disappointing because we had three chances to clear it for the second goal, and it ended up in the back of our net.

“Last week, we created chances and played well. We hoped to build on that but with these disappointments you can put behind you.

“The second goal killed the game, but it was quite late. At 1-0 we were looking like the team that was pressing. We were vulnerable to being hit on the counter.

“We are a team that play nice open football. That’s something which can lead to being hit on breaks if we misplace the passes, it’s important knowing how to get back into shape when we do that.”

The Under18s continue their campaign when they welcome Southampton to Motspur Park on Saturday.
