The under-18s secured an emphatic 7-0 victory over Reading on Saturday, thanks to the brilliance of the midfield trio and a Sonny Hilton treble.

Rampant Fulham Dispatch Royals

Tuesday 9 October 2018 10:37

Fulham under-18s put on a rampant show of finishing in a 7-0 battering of Reading at Motspur Park on Saturday.

The midfield trio of Sylvester Jasper, Sonny Hilton and Fabio Carvalho tormented The Royals, bagging a treble, and two braces between them, as well as assisting each other in tandem.

Fulham carved out their opening chance inside the first three minutes. Mika Biereth was thrown in to start the game and he seized the opportunity with both hands. His flick was returned to him cleverly by Jasper, but the striker’s side-footed shot whistled wide.

Biereth was making a nuisance of himself again soon after. He latched onto a loose pass and forced Fabio Sole to bring him down in the area. Jasper stepped up to clinically dispatch his spot kick.

The Young Whites inflicted more damage on The Royals two minutes later. Hilton drove into the box and emphatically fired home to double the lead. The midfielder was playing like a man on a mission, as he got his second of the game. He hunted down a heavy back-pass into the Reading goalkeeper, to nip it off his toes and prod home.

The game started to become a rout, when Carvalho got in on the act. Another sloppy pass was seized upon by the impressive Hilton, to allow Carvalho to slam home from the edge of the area. The Young Whites cruising at the break.

Carvalho begun to enjoy himself as the half went on as he slalomed his way through a couple of challenges before squaring to Jasper for his second of the game. Reading offered very little to put a stop to Fulham’s momentum other than a couple of set-pieces where George Wickens was forced into action.

Carvalho sparkled again in the closing stages to finish another sweeping Fulham move. Jasper delivered a pinpoint pass over the top of the defence, for the midfielder to side foot a volley into the top corner.

Fittingly, the trio of Hilton, Jasper and Carvalho completed the beating of Reading. It was the former that completed his hat-trick. Carvalho rode a couple of challenges before allowing his team mate to notch up his treble in a phenomenal display at Motspur Park.
