Fulham maintained their fine start to the season with a 1-0 victory away at Norwich on Bank Holiday Monday.

An early penalty from Cauley Woodrow saw Fulham maintain their 100 per cent winning start to the new season with a 1-0 victory at Norwich City in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Whites went in front in the fourth minute. Woodrow’s good movement forced Dani Ayala into a foul in the box and the Fulham youngster picked himself up to score the resulting spot-kick.

Marcus Bettinelli was called into action for the first time in the 15th minute, saving a shot from Carlton Morris after Chris David had lost possession. Bettinelli then denied Josh Murphy, before Tom Richards saw an effort parried away by Remi Matthews.

On the half-hour mark, the woodwork came to Fulham’s rescue as Morris’ shot struck the post and bar, while at the other end, Sean Kavanagh’s free-kick was heading for the top corner only for Matthews to make a brilliant stop.

Muamer Tankovic and Alex Brister wasted good chances to extend Fulham’s lead in the opening stages of the second half, before Woodrow went close to doubling his tally, cutting in from the left and letting fly, only to see his 25-yard drive pushed away by Matthews.

Bettinelli then did well to deny Jamar Loza, before Woodrow was sent clear by Kerim Frei in the 76th minute but saw his effort beaten away. With six minutes remaining, David’s free-kick was deflected just wide, before Bettinelli denied Morris as the game ticked into stoppage time.

Kit Symons' side held on, though, to secure a third successive win from their opening three games of the new campaign.

Fulham: Bettinelli, Brister, Grimmer, Passley, Kavanagh, Frei, Vigen Christensen, David, Richards, Tankovic, Woodrow (Islamovic 77). Subs (not used): Joronen, Buatu, Della Verde, Minkwitz.
