Fulham U21s lost 1-0 at Met Police on Wednesday night in their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

Fulham’s Under-21s went down to a 1-0 defeat at Met Police on Wednesday night in their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

After an even opening 10 minutes, Fulham went closest to opening the scoring on 20 when Aaron Redford met Luca de la Torre’s cross but volleyed wide.

Two minutes later the hosts were in front. A Charlie Collins free-kick was played deep into the Fulham box and Police defender Rob Bartley headed home.

In response, Dean O’Halloran fired over from 12 yards on the half-hour mark in what was the final action of note in the opening half.

The Whites fielded almost an entirely different team for the start of the second half, making nine changes at the break. Only towering Australian goalkeeper Jake Soutter and winger O’Halloran remained on the pitch from the first 45.

Josh Walker almost had an immediate impact but saw a shot saved, before the Police hit the bar from a corner.

On the hour, a superb double save from the Police keeper denied Walker and then Stephen Humphrys, while Jordan Evans whistled a shot inches over with eight minutes left.

As the game entered stoppage time, Harry Paton headed Evans’ cross over from six yards in what would be Fulham’s final chance of the game.

Fulham (First Half): Soutter, Elworthy, Opoku, Trialist, Adebeyo, Kait, Edun, Na Bangna, de la Torre, O'Halloran, Redford.

Fulham (Second Half): Soutter, Sheckleford, Evans, Davies, Casasola, Smile, Paton, O'Halloran, Shamsi, Walker, Humphrys.
