1: Epsom Derby
The pinnacle of the Flat racing season, the 234th Epsom Derby kicks off the sporting calendar for June. Popularly regarded as just "The Derby", the race is one of Britain's great national events and also the nation's richest horse race, capturing a huge world-wide television audience.
1 June-6 July: British and Irish Lions tour
The British and Irish Lions will tour Australia, a country they last toured Australia in 2001. Coached by Warren Gatland, the squad will battle it out for the Tom Richards Trophy.
13-16: US Open golf
Golf's second major of the year, the US Open, takes place at Merion in Pennsylvania. American Webb Simpson defends the title he won by one shot from countryman Michael Thompson and Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell, who went close to a second US Open win in three years.
18-22: Royal Ascot
Horse racing is back at the end of June, this time with plenty of fashion bound to be on show at the five-day meeting, which features some of the top stars from around the world.
24 June-7 July: Wimbledon
After Andy Murray made it through to the Final of Wimbledon last year, the hopes of the nation at the 127th Championships will be higher than ever. Murray did beat Roger Federer a few weeks later to take the Olympic title at the same venue, proving that it can be done, while Serena Williams will look to reclaim her Women's title.
