Under 13-15s Head Coach
Career
I was at Cardiff City as a player until I was 18, and I also played for Wales schools in the Victory Shield. After I was released by Cardiff I went to Loughborough University to study for a Sports Science degree and then started working for Fulham in a development centre in 2008. Since then I have worked with every age group from U10-16s for at least 1 season. I’ve completed all of my coaching badges; A-licence, Youth A-licence and so on. I was delighted to make the step up to a full time role in November 2014.
Job role
I’m currently head coach of the U16 age group. I have worked with the younger age groups for the past eight seasons so have built up some valuable experience. In my first year with the U13s I signed a young trialist called Patrick Roberts, so I know what it takes to make the journey!
Stepping up
The progression and the pathway from the academy to first team is as good as it has ever been. As a youth development coach, there’s nothing better than seeing boys that I’ve worked with through the YDP now playing in the reserves and first team and even making an impact in the Champions League at other clubs. We are working very hard in the academy to prepare the boys to make the step up into the first team and it’s a great feeling when you can sit down at the stadium and see a boy who you have worked with from 12 or 13 make that final step at Craven Cottage.
