Fulham's third Manager in five years was Edward (Ned) Liddell, who was then the Club's Chief Scout.

Liddell managed Southend and Queens Park Rangers before joining Fulham as Chief Scout. But in each of his two seasons as Manager, both in the Third Division, the Club finished in a lower position than it had 12 months earlier.

In his post-Cottage career, he scouted for West Ham United and had another go at management with Luton Town (1936-38). He then spent the rest of his life scouting. At the time of his death at the age of 90 in 1968, he was with Tottenham Hotspur, and had been for over 20 years.
