Sonny Hilton scored as the Young Whites drew to send them into the quarter-finals of the PL Cup.

Fulham’s Under-18s qualified for the quarter-final of the Premier League Cup on Tuesday afternoon as they drew 1-1 with Leicester City at their Training Ground.

A point was all that was needed to secure top spot, and Sonny Hilton’s second half strike was enough to progress.

Two weeks ago these two sides faced each other in the Premier League South, and the Young Whites were only denied three points by the Foxes scoring with the last kick of the game from a corner to make it 2-2.

Timmy Abraham opened the shooting as he raced down the right channel on goal, but shot just wide of the left post in the second minute.

5 minutes in and Tyrese Francois played a one touch cutting pass that went straight through the Leicester defence to put Abraham in but the striker couldn’t get the ball under his spell.

Leicester countered, Julian Schwarzer, who had a fantastic game between the sticks made an important save from a one-on-one by Allasane Meite, Jaydn Mundle-Smith cleared off the line.

Both teams were trying to control possession, 13 minutes in Jayden Harris slipped a perfectly weighted ball into the area for Abraham to chase down, a well time tackle stopped him in his tracks for a corner.

Eight minutes later Francois picked up the ball near the wing and drove to the D, he hooked a shot with his left foot aiming for the bottom right, Jacob Stolarcyzk had to dive and push the shot out for a corner.

Two minutes later a Mundle-Smith clearance only made it to Conor Tee, he shot across goal and Schwarzer was forced to dive.

30 minutes in Harris skipped past three defenders in the box, hugged the goal line and pulled a ball back to Cameron Thompson, his shot was blocked on the line to deny the Young Whites.

7 minutes before the break Leicester started applying pressure, winning a free kick outside the area and several corners.

The second half started just as quickly as the first, Harris had a shot 10 yards out but another block denied the midfielder.

54 minutes in Schwarzer made a stunning save from a corner, a back foot from a blue shirt flicked the ball towards the bottom right hand corner, only brilliant reactions from Schwarzer kept the match level as he pushed it past the post.

62 minutes in and Tee almost put Leicester ahead, a diving save from Schwarzer across goal kept his clean sheet intact.

Fulham played deeper for the second half, relying on their counter attack. The Young Whites’ patience paid off 70 minutes in.

Spence sprinted at the right back and midfield and chipped a ball between them to Hilton running into the 6-yard box, a deft touch put it in off the right post to take the lead.

It didn’t take long for a Leicester response, two minutes later and a barrage of shots went onto the Fulham goal, one ricocheted off the right post across goal, with Schwarzer having dived he couldn’t get up to prevent Kairo Arlott-Edwards slotting the equaliser.

Zico Asare almost scored from the halfway line with 10 minutes to go as the keeper sprinted out to clear, but Stolarcyzk raced back and just caught the ball.

Fulham saw out the match, happy for a point to put them through to the quarter-final of the cup.
