Fulham came from behind to draw 1-1 as Brighton went down to 10 men.

It was a blustery morning on the south coast as Fulham’s Under-18s drew 1-1 at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday morning.

Brighton took the lead early on before Danny Cashman gave away a penalty and was shown a red card 34 minutes in. Ryan De Havilland levelled the match and the Young Whites pressed for the lead which never came.

The Seagulls had the better chances for the opening of the match, registering four shots in the opening 10 minutes.

Three minutes in the referee awarded a free kick to Brighton 25-yards from goal. Isaac Hutchinson curled a ball into the box, Matt Weaire headed on target but George Wickens solidly caught the effort.

Fulham’s first opportunity came 11 minutes in, Sylvio Jasper was fouled sprinting down the right wing.

De Havilland curled the set piece into the wind, the ball fell to Jasper who cut the ball back to Ben Davis. The Singaporean fired over the crossbar.

Brighton looked dangerous down the right, Ljubicic attempted several long range efforts, one took a deflection however, Wickens did fantastically to cover his near post and keep the match level.

16 minutes in Showkat Tahri had a chance from a set piece as De Havilland played it short, but the winger shot high of the bar.

Brighton made the breakthrough in the 26th minute, a Fulham defender passed a loose ball across the outside of the area, Hutchinson picked up the ball and quickly fired for the corner beating Wickens.

The Seagulls almost had a second in the first half, a quick break and a great ball in between the centre backs from Jayden Onen, the ball reached Ljubicic and he rifled a shot off the crossbar.

Fulham found themselves back into the match 33 minutes in, Timmy Abraham pulled a ball back to Fabio Carvalho for a tap in, but Cashman pushed him over. The referee awarded a penalty and handed the number 10 a red card.

De Havilland stepped up and smashed it to his left, levelling for the Young Whites.

Three minutes before the break Abraham had a good chance. Jasper played De Havilland down the right, he hit hard towards Abraham at the near post but the strikers’ effort was blocked well.

Fulham spent the entirety of the second half pressing to take the lead, De Havilland was on a hunt for a second goal shooting with the wind behind him, one effort going very close to the left post. He sent another shortly after over the crossbar.

Nicolas Santos-Clase was introduced and with his first touch he slipped a ball to Abraham with a quarter hour left in the match. The keeper rushed out and his shot took a deflection and came off the top corner frame.

Santos-Clase went close himself, running across the outside of the box and firing into the packed box, his shot however, ricocheted off Abraham.

The Young Whites were not able to capitalise on the extra man and the points were shared.
