Four second half goals within eight minutes meant the spoils were shared in East London on Saturday morning.

Fulham’s Under-18s drew 2-2 away at West Ham United on Saturday morning. After a goalless quiet first half, the second half was a stark contrast with four goals in an eight minute period. Ben Davis scored a header to equalise and Nicolas Santos-Clase put the Young Whites ahead from the spot.

Fulham came into this match unbeaten in five, however, having drawn their previous three matches in all competitions.

The first real opportunity of the match fell to West Ham in the 7th minute, from 10-yards out Mingi struck a shot that looked as if it were going in under the bar, but a strong hand from Julian Schwarzer prevented an early goal.

14 minutes in it was Schwarzer who was needed to keep the score level, a shot was driven low towards the bottom left corner and a diving save preserved his clean sheet.

20 minutes in and the Young Whites started to get a grip on the game, getting the ball at their feet and playing to the style that suits them, trying to dominate possession.

Half an hour into the match and Rosa got a clean shot away for the Hammers, Schwarzer made a comfortable save from a dangerous shot.

6 minutes later and Reece York tried to take the advantage. From just outside the area he drove a shot at the bottom left of the goal, the keeper made a diving save and Timmy Abraham tried to poke in the rebound, but he recovered at the vital second.

3 minutes before the break and the Young Whites were almost through on goal. Tyrese Francois played a cutting ball through the midfield to Santos-Clase in the middle.

The Spaniard turned with a small touch to beat his defender, but his touch didn’t quite take enough off the pass and it rolled on through to the keeper.

The second half started at a much quicker pace from both teams, eager to make the breakthrough.

54 minutes in and West Ham were the ones to finally take advantage. The striker shot from the edge of the area and his effort took a wicked deflection.

Schwarzer made a brilliant instinct save as he was diving, but the follow through from Mingi was enough for the ball to end up in the back of the net to make it 1-0.

It didn’t take long for the Young Whites to respond. Joe Felix whipped ball into the box from the right and Davis nodded it past the keeper easily enough for the equaliser.

The match became basketball like, West Ham in the next play raced down the left side of the pitch, Rosa was on the 6-yard line but skied his shot over the bar.

61 minutes in and Kelly received a ball in the left corner of the box, he took a couple of step overs to confuse the defender, and a rash challenge sent him to the floor to win a penalty. Santos-Clase stepped up and slotted it into the right of the net with the keeper heading the wrong way.

It was one minute later when West Ham brought themselves level, the right winger chipped the ball to the back post and Longelo, unmarked headed past Schwarzer to equalise.

A couple more chances fell for the Young Whites as they looked the more likely to go on and score a winner.

York headed from far out and it was kept out by the keeper, and with five minutes left Sonny Hilton couldn’t steer an effort on target from the back post from a corner.

Jaydn Mundle-Smith was able to make sure a point was saved for Fulham, heading off the line in the dying moments.
