An exciting opportunity opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join our Academy based at our training ground in Motspur Park. To be a senior leader within the academy, directly overseeing strategy, football operations, audit, research, and data activities across the programme.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Directly line manage Heads of Department across the football operations disciplines (regulations, administration) of the academy.
  • Oversee the MDT integration of the above disciplines across football operation departments across the academy.
  • Lead the creation and management of the Academy Performance Plan (strategy).
  • Oversee all football regulations and administration to ensure the best possible functioning of academy operations, whilst ensuring adherence to all youth development rules and regulations.
  • Lead the coordination and communication of football operations within the academy, including leading phase specific MDT meetings.
  • Lead the communication to all Club (security, facilities etc…) and external stakeholders (e.g. EFL, Premier League).
  • Manage the academy games programme.
  • Lead the academy EPPP audit submission and management.
  • Liaise with the Transport Manager to ensure transport provision is safe, inclusive, and well managed.
  • Co-ordinate the International Tours and Tournaments schedule and lead on the organisation of each tour.
  • Support the Academy Director with player contracts and communication, whilst maintaining oversite of governance and regulations with the Academy Secretary and Academy Manager.
  • Be a key contact for parents and players throughout the academy, specifically concerning any operational or contractual matters.
  • Role model and always uphold the academy values.
  • Support the Academy Director in maintaining a Closer More Personal culture for players and staff.
  • Be an active member of the Academy Management Team.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding.
  • Undertake continue professional development.

The following qualifications and experience are essential:

  • Has extension experience as a senior leader within an elite sport academy or other high performing environment.
  • Has extensive experience overseeing and leading strategy and football operations of an elite sport academy, school or similar institution.
  • Significant experience managing large numbers of staff across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience of overseeing audit processes.
  • Has a deep understanding of at least one core discipline e.g., coaching, sport science etc…

Candidates should demonstrate skill in developing and implementing strategic plans and operations. It is essential that candidates have outstanding knowledge of current safeguarding practices. Candidates should demonstrate a closer, more professional approach to working with players and staff and to be player centred in their approach to individual development. Essential qualities include showing the highest levels of professionalism in organisation, delivery and conduct.
