Fulham acquired the services of three-cap England international Eddie Lowe for £10,000 in May 1950.
It was money which would prove to have been brilliantly spent, as he went on to make an astonishing 511 appearances for the Club – a figure second only to the legendary Johnny Haynes.
A powerful half-back who was strong in the air and enjoyed a tackle, highlights during his time in SW6 included promotion to the top flight in 1959 and a FA Cup Semi-Final appearance three years later. (He was injured for much of our run to the same stage of the competition in 1958.)
He left Fulham after 13 years of service to become player-manager at Notts County, a position he held for two years until his retirement.
