Scott Parker was pleased with Marek Rodák’s performance between the sticks at Birmingham City.

After serving a suspension during our defeat by Hull City, the 22-year-old was restored to the starting lineup for the trip to the Midlands, and played a key role in securing a vital clean sheet.

“He did really well,” Parker said of his goalkeeper. “A young boy who’s come in and pulled off some good saves.

“He’s had vast experience in the league, although he’s young, he’s played a lot of games at Rotherham last year, and I have full confidence in Marek.

“He’s got character, he’s got something about him, and when you’re a ‘keeper you need that.

“I’m fortunate enough to have both of them – [Marcus] Bettinelli and him. They’re both very good ‘keepers.

“At this present moment in time he’s got the shirt. [But] I know for sure, when I talk about character, that there’s someone behind him in Bettinelli who’s got plenty of that and will push, and push, and push.

“Like I said, I’m in a very fortunate position to have two such good ‘keepers.”
