Midfielder Ollie O'Neill gave us his reaction after scoring a late goal to seal the three points for Fulham Under-18s.

The game looked to be heading for a draw before O'Neill popped up on 88 minutes to slot home from range.

"It's just great. There's nothing better. It's the storybook ending and there's always more to the game when we face Chelsea. They're neighbours and we've played them quite a lot. There are players on their team we've played against as we've come up through the age groups."

O'Neill felt his side got what they deserved from the game.

"I thought we were the better team but there were spells of five or 10 minutes where they got on top and it went a bit crazy. Overall, we created loads of chances and earned the win."

If the young Whites can win their two games in hand, they'll head to the summit of the U18s Premier League table.

"We've got to take care of those games before Christmas and continue to move upwards."

Head Coach Steve Wigley knew the game was always going to be a tough one, but was pleased with the way his team performed to take the three points.

"That was a proper game of football between two good teams. I always felt it was going to be very tight. When you face Chelsea you know you're up against one of the better academies in England, if not Europe. I think we deserved the win if I'm honest, because of the chances we created."

Steve was happy to have turned the page after his side's poor FA Youth Cup result earlier in the week.

Steve Wigley V Chelsea

"We obviously had a real disappointment on Monday, where we probably had our worst 45 minutes in 18 months and today we knew we'd have to play well. We created enough chances to win the game and when you miss them, you begin to wonder whether it'll come back to haunt you.

"When they scored from the set play we knew we'd have to dig in again and, fortunately, we created another couple of chances and scored a great goal."

With players returning from injury, Steve feels the squad has good depth moving forward into the new year.

"We've got good competition for places with players coming back, which has helped boost the squad."
