Millwall v Fulham | Tuesday 17th August 2021 | 7.45pm | The Den | #MILFUL

The opposition

  • Last year was a solid enough campaign for Millwall, with Gary Rowett leading them to a comfortable top half finish, but the Play-Offs were some way off, with 15 points separating them from sixth place Bournemouth.
  • Like Fulham, the Lions are unbeaten so far this season, though both their Championship games have ended in a 1-1 draw; away to Queens Park Rangers and at home to Blackburn Rovers.
  • There are three former Whites in the opposition ranks these days in Shaun Hutchinson, Scott Malone and Matt Smith, though the former could miss out on a reunion with his former club through injury.

In addition to Hutchinson who is awaiting results of a scan on a quad injury, midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld could also miss out with a calf strain, while Mason Bennett is a doubt.

Fulham team news

Harry Wilson serves the first of a three game ban following his red card at the weekend. Harrison Reed has returned to training, with a decision set to be made on his fitness, but Anthony Knockaert may need a little longer. Tom Cairney and Terence Kongolo remain sidelined.

Player insight

Bobby De Cordova-Reid knows what to expect when he steps out at the Den on Tuesday night.

“I think it’s going to be a very good environment,” he told FFCtv. “Both sets of fans are going to be pumped up, and we’re going to need our fans to be loud and to back us, and we need to give something for them to cheer about.

“We understand what’s to come, and the fans do as well. We’ve got to be professional and get the job done, get the three points and get out of there.”

Pre-match quotes

“We have to be mindful we are playing a very good side but it’s at home and it’s up to us to try and take the game to them with the atmosphere of the fans and make it a difficult night.”

Gary Rowett

Millwall Manager

“I can tell you that it’s a good atmosphere to play football in and sometimes it can be difficult, but it’s a good one for us to play to show the character and the personality of our team.”
