Fulham were held to a fourth draw in a row by Luton Town at a soggy Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon.

In a game of few chances, Aleksandar Mitrović got back amongst the goals in the first half when he tucked home a loose ball after Tosin had seen his header cleared off the line.

But the Hatters were showing plenty of fight and claimed what was arguably a deserved point courtesy of former Fulham man Elijah Adebayo.

After their impressive performances off the bench against Bournemouth, Tom Cairney and Bobby De Cordova-Reid were handed starts, as was Kenny Tete. They took the places of Harrison Reed - who had picked up a muscle injury - Fabio Carvalho and Denis Odoi.

Joe Bryan attempted to take advantage of a sodden surface early one went he drilled in a low shot from 20 yards. It skidded across the turf quickly and did have goalkeeper James Shea worried, but it ended up missing the far post.

The hosts then had a let-off when Sonny Bradley miscontrolled the ball in his own box, with it popping up off his thigh into his outstretched arm, but the referee gave the Luton captain the benefit of the doubt.

Mitrović couldn’t believe that wasn’t given, but before long his frown was turned upside down when he poked his team in front. After Bryan was fouled in a wide position, Harry Wilson’s pinpoint free-kick was headed on target by Tosin. It was cleared off the line but Mitrović was in the right place to prod the loose ball in for 1-0.

The goal actually sparked the Hatters into life, though without really creating anything until Admiral Muskwe lashed one into the side-netting on 39 minutes.

Muskwe had been one of his side’s livelier performers, and he showed good strength to get goal-side within 90 seconds of the restart, but his finish lacked composure and was never going to trouble Marek Rodák.

Luton were making it difficult for the Whites to settle and it wasn’t until 10 minutes in that we were able to fashion any openings of note in the second half. We then had two half chances in quick succession, both from range, but Cairney fired over and Neeskens Kebano could only find the arms of Shea.

The match was finely poised, and the hosts restored parity just after the hour mark through Adebayo. James Bree sent in a dangerous free-kick from the right, and the Fulham Academy graduate got between two defenders to guide his header home.

It was anyone’s game now, and it looked for a moment as though Fulham had regained the lead following a corner. First Mitrović’s header was cleared from near the line, and then a ricochet off a home defender looked set to go in, but Shea was able to make the save.

We were back in the ascendancy and playing with more confidence. Mitrović again thought it should be a penalty for another Bradley handball as he blocked the big man’s header, and then Wilson had Shea scrambling to make a save at his near post.

Rodrigo Muniz was one of the attacking substitutes brought on to try and snatch the win, and he used his strength well to roll his man on the edge of the box in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, though, his shot lacked power and was a comfortable save for Shea.

And with only two minutes of stoppage time added on – maybe the fourth official just wanted to get out of the torrential rain – that proved the last chance of the afternoon for either side.
