It’s undoubtably been a challenging couple of weeks in the Fulham camp, but as football resumes for us on Saturday, Bobby De Cordova-Reid says there can be small positives to take from the enforced break.

“Over the Christmas period there was a lot of games, so maybe it (the break) came at a time where we were struggling physically.

“We’ll try and take the positives out of it and hopefully we’re fresh and ready to go for the games coming up.”

With some players having time off over this period, De Cordova-Reid says the squad are now relishing the time on the grass as training ramps back up to full speed.

“After the few days that certain players had off and longer time that others did, the excitement to train and play football is there for everyone to see.

“We’re ready now to get back and get going again and hopefully get some good results.”

Last season’s trip to QPR’s Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium was Cyrus Christie’s stage to step up and bag an emphatic winner after Fulham found themselves 1-0 down within the first minute, a match which the Jamaican international remembers well.

“It was an interesting game,” said De Cordova-Reid. “I knew it was going to be a tough one and we had to put in a decent performance, and we did.

“I remember Cyrus scoring quite late on and it was more of a relief for us and definitely a confidence booster at the time.”

This season we meet the Hoops in the FA Cup Third Round with a chance to keep recent momentum going from the League, something that De Cordova-Reid doesn’t underestimate the importance of.

“Every game we play we want to win,” he confidently said. “It does boost confidence and get minutes into people’s legs.

“If you can play well in these games you take it into the Premier League so we want to win the game and we’ll be doing everything we can to get the result we need.”
