Fulham gave a spirited second-half showing to peg back Spurs and come away with a point on Wednesday night.

Harry Kane’s powerful header opened the scoring before Ivan Cavaleiro scored a similar header to ensure we remained unbeaten in six.

Scott Parker named the strongest side available to him amid the quick turnaround for a game against high-flying Spurs. He made six changes from the FA Cup win over QPR.

Fulham looked sprightly after some of the starters had a chance to rest up. A slick move involving Antonee Robinson and Ivan Cavaleiro down the left was pulled back for Ruben Loftus-Cheek. His side-foot smartly blocked by Eric Dier.

André-Frank Anguissa was the first to test either keeper. Hugo Lloris needed to be alert to palm away his left footed strike at a good height for the Frenchman.

At the other end, Alphonse Areola was in fine form. Heung-Min Son denied twice from close range. The first a prod inside the six-yard box. The second an epic reflex save from point blank. The charm on the Fulham goal wore thin. A precise Sergio Reguilon cross found the clinical Harry Kane who headed in off the post.

Kane should’ve doubled the lead shortly after. The England international headed over when it seemed easier to score.

Parker’s men rode the Spurs storm and responded with a chance of their own. Kenny Tete’s powerful run down the right found the acrobatic Ruben Loftus-Cheek whose effort spun agonisingly wide with Lloris beaten.

The damage was limited to one at the half-time whistle with still everything to play for. The second-half opened at a frantic pace. Moussa Sissoko blitzed past three challenges before a gangly Tosin Adarabioyo leg halted the danger at the last.

Areola was called upon again to keep his team in the game. Harry Winks curled a weak but precise shot heading for the corner which our stopper needed his full reach to tip behind.

Fulham looked more accomplished as the game wore on but were left more exposed to counter attacks. Son burst through and struck the post.

Ademola Lookman’s introduction added a burst of pace. That was the key to the leveller. He stood up a cross to Cavaleiro who planted a firm header into the corner.

Spurs responded aggressively to conceding. Reguilon had the ball in the net but for the assistant’s flag on the nearside.

Fulham now prepare to face Chelsea on Saturday in another London derby.
