The Club is very pleased to announce the contract extension of Alex Borto, who commits his long-term future to Fulham.

The 18-year-old has progressed nicely through the ranks since joining from Cedar Stars Academy in 2020 and has been involved at every level for Fulham this season, making five appearances for the Under-23 and Under-18 sides, as well as having some experience of matchdays with the First Team.

Our young stopper caught up with fulhamfc.com after signing on the dotted line.

"I couldn't be more happy to sign this deal. It's something that every footballer dreams of and my hard work here has paid off. Most importantly, I believe that Fulham has a great plan in place for me so this is best for my career."

When asked whether he feels he's improved in the last couple of years, Alex replied: "I remember my first training session vividly. It was really tough for me and if I'm honest, I struggled. I adapted after a few months and when I look back I can see that I've improved tremendously, not only as a goalkeeper but also as a person."

The American, who recently returned after representing his country, has travelled with the First Team to games as well as playing his part in training.

"I loved every minute I spent with the senior group. Going to a few of the games as third choice goalkeeper was an amazing and humbling experience. Training with Marek, Paulo and Fabri every day was great and they all gave me tips and advice that has really helped."

Mike Cave, our Academy Director, added: "I’m delighted that Alex has chosen to extend his time at the Club. He has made great progress over the last couple of seasons, performing well for both age groups, whilst also representing the US at Under-20 level.

"We look forward to supporting Alex in the next chapter of his career as he aims to progress into the senior game."
