In conjunction with the Fulham FC Disabled Supporters Association (DSA), the Club is pleased to announce that it will be trialling an audio descriptive commentary service at the upcoming fixture against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday 26th April.
The fixture is our annual Level Playing Field (LPF) Weeks of Action fixture, where the Club highlights LPF’s mission of promoting a positive and inclusive experience for disabled sports fans.
Provided by specialist commentators from Alan Marsh Sport, the audio descriptive service provides enhanced and detailed commentary for blind and partially sighted supporters, significantly improving their matchday experience.
Following the trial at the Nottingham Forest game, the Club will look to launch this service for the start of the 2022/23 season.
Mark Davies, Chair of the Fulham DSA, commented: "Audio described commentary provides an extra level of description to a blind person, giving a richer understanding of the game, the players, and the setting.
"Blind and visually impaired people can use the audio description service on their TVs at home when watching films and dramas to provide them with extra details that they would otherwise miss out on.
"The audio described commentary service is designed to do a similar job; to give them the extra details that they might otherwise not get from regular commentary.
"If you know someone who is blind or visually impaired who has never been to a game, or hasn't been for a long time, then please contact the club to discuss this opportunity."
Nicola Walworth, Fulham FC Supporter Relations Manager, added: "We are pleased to be trialling this audio descriptive commentary service at our annual Level Playing Field match.
"We have worked closely with the DSA to improve accessibility at Craven Cottage and look forward to this becoming a regular part of the club’s offering."
