Aleksandar Mitrović admitted that things could not really have gone much better in Fulham’s return to Premier League action.
The Whites claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace, aided by two red cards for the hosts, but in truth Mitro and his teammates were in control throughout the encounter.
“It was the best possible way to start the season again,” the big man said. “We played against a good side but I think we showed that we were the better team on the day.
“Of course they had the two red cards but I think even before the first red card we dominated the game.

“We scored the [first] goal, then the red card made it easier, but I think we were really good all over the pitch. In defence and attack, we played a really good game.”
It was touch and go whether or not Mitrović would even feature at Selhurst Park, but thankfully he did, turning in a virtuoso performance with two assists before his 10th goal of the season.
Terrifyingly, he says he’s not even 100 per cent fit yet!
“I really enjoyed it, even though I’m still having a little bit of trouble,” Mitro said. “I’m not fully fit but I’m getting there.

“I really enjoy playing in this team, with these lads, with this manager. I want to enjoy every game, every training session, and hopefully we continue like this.
“I’m really pleased – I’d be more happy if I scored two more goals, but I’ll take the assists! Joking aside, one goals and two assists, I’ll take that all day, but the most important thing was that we got three points.
“It’s a big three points for us, a clean sheet, and we’ve restarted the season in the best possible way. We’ll enjoy the win, recover and rest, and then prepare for the next one.”

The highlight of the day was arguably Tim Ream volleying in a sublime first ever Premier League goal.
And the verdict on the strike from a master of the art?
“Amazing! I told him he’ll start scoring goals for fun now.
“I’m glad for him, he’s an amazing player. He’s one of the most important players for us, his experience and calmness on the ball, he’s really a leader.
“I’m really glad he got on the scoresheet and hopefully he can score many more this season.”
