The Premier League have confirmed that PL2 will officially become an Under-21 competition from this coming season onwards.

With the average age at 19, this will now better reflect the reality of the players taking part.

This alteration will mean that clubs are now able to use five (previously three) over-age outfield players and one over-age goalkeeper.

Consultation is ongoing with clubs as part of a wider review of the Professional Development Phase Games Programme which will continue throughout the season.
