Aleksandar Mitrović’s flying volley against Peterborough United has been named Fulham’s Goal of the Month for February.

On the night that he set the outright record for goals in a Championship season, Mitrović doubled his and the team’s tally for the evening with a fine finish at the end of a slick move.

After Antonee Robinson won possession, Fabio Carvalho picked up the loose ball in the middle of the pitch and – helped by a lovely chopped turn – burst away from his man and into the Peterborough half.

He then played a perfectly-weighted pass into space for Neeskens Kebano down the left, whose first time cross on his weaker foot found Mitrović who had ghosted into space in the box.

There was still plenty to do to finish it off, but Mitrović expertly guided it home while in mid-air, generating enough power to ensure the goalkeeper’s hand to the ball wasn’t enough to keep it out.

With 41.5 per cent of the votes it was a clear winner, though second place was a much tighter call, with Kieron Bowie (11.3%) eventually seeing off Xavier Benjamin (9.2%), Carvalho (9%) and Mitrović (8.8%) again for his winner in Hull.
