Goals have been like London buses for Harrison Reed of late.
After going more than 100 matches without finding the net, the midfielder now has two in his last five outings.
And when he opened the scoring against Aston Villa on Thursday night, he made a beeline for his delighted Head Coach in the dugout.
“I was heading that way as my family were over there, and then I’ve seen the Manager’s face,” Reed explained. “It was tough for me to come off at half-time [against Bournemouth] the other day, and he’s given me the chance again from the start, and I needed to show something, so I’m pleased with the performance.

“I said to the boys I was going to be calm when I score, as if I do it every day! But whenever that ball hits the back of the net you can’t keep the emotion in, so I just do what comes naturally.
“I’ve been working hard to be fair. It’s taken a long while to come, but now two have come along. I’m really happy to be contributing.
“The feeling seeing the ball hit the back of the net, you can’t describe it, so hopefully there’s many more to come.”

Fulham’s 3-0 win over Villa was our first victory since Reed last netted against Nottingham Forest a month earlier – a welcome tonic delivered in some style.
“That’s exactly what we spoke about in the changing room,” he said. “We needed a result, we needed a response after not coming away with the three points in the last three games.
“Here at the Cottage we want to create a fortress, make it a tough place to come, and I think we did that from the first whistle.”
