Fulham FC Foundation are excited to announce the launch of a brand-new employability programme called Made in Fulham.
The programme will begin its first cohort in summer 2023 and will look to provide participants with the qualifications and experience needed to take their first steps into a football coaching career.
The programme was developed after consulting current 16-25 year-old Foundation participants about additional opportunities of interest to young people. Of the 96 young people surveyed:
- 55% asked for more opportunities to undertake coaching qualifications with us.
- 51% asked for more opportunities to gain work experience at our existing sessions.
This data created the impetus to create an employability programme and hence Made in Fulham was born.

Made in Fulham will be aimed at young people aged 16-25 and will work with each cohort for a 12-week period. Over these 12 weeks, the participants will experience a number of different opportunities that will be crucial for supporting them into a football coaching career. These will include:
- Various football coaching qualifications.
- Work experience at Fulham FC Foundation’s existing sessions.
- Coach education sessions.
- Employability sessions.
- 1-1 mentoring with a qualified Fulham FC Foundation staff member.

After completing the 12 weeks, participants will complete a practice interview that will also include delivering a coaching session to a group of Foundation participants. Once this has been successfully completed, Fulham FC Foundation will fund each participant to take their ‘FA Introduction to Coaching’ qualification. This qualification will allow our Made in Fulham graduates to apply for coaching jobs within the football industry.
“We understand that a large number of the young people we work with at Fulham FC Foundation have a keen interest in becoming football coaches. As a result, we wanted to create a programme that would support our young people in achieving this dream, while at the same time provide them with some key transferable employability skills. This is how Made in Fulham was born, and we can’t wait to start the programme and begin helping our young people on their coaching careers.” - Richard Morris, Secondary Education & Careers Manager at Fulham FC Foundation.
