During the Islamic month of Ramadhan, Fulham Kicks hosted the first ever Iftar event held at Craven Cottage.

Young people from the Fulham Kicks & Fulham Refugee Kicks programmes, plus Muslims from the local community of Hammersmith & Fulham, were invited to an open Iftar held at Craven Cottage on Saturday 15th April.

Those in attendance had the opportunity to enjoy a meal and break their fast amongst fellow Muslims, Fulham staff and partners who work closely with Fulham FC Foundation.

Mohammed A, an Imam from a local Mosque, was also in attendance and gave up his time to lead a group prayer located in the Putney End.

"Just wanted to say thank you for inviting us to such a special evening, everyone really enjoyed your welcoming hospitality, the food, the opportunity, and most of all the fantastic initiative. Many of us have been turned into Fulham fans and are keen to start sporting the famous black and white jersey and cheer on our local heroes." - Mohammed Abubakar, local Imam.

"We were delighted to welcome all of the visitors to Craven Cottage for the Iftar event on Saturday 15th April. Fulham is a fully inclusive football club who place huge importance on engaging and welcoming local people regardless of their personal background or circumstances, and hopefully events like this portray our philosophy in this area. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Fulham FC for facilitating the event and also to Mohamed Abubakar, the Imam from the West London Islamic Cultural Centre, who delivered the prayer ceremony." - Paul Foley, Fulham FC Foundation Head of Operations

Fulham Kicks engages with around 600 young people each year on our Refugee Kicks programme, with Islam being with one of the main religions amongst participants. Being inclusive is a main part of the work Fulham FC Foundation looks to achieve so it is important not only are we engaging with the young people with free football, but also take an interest in their cultures and celebrations with the hopes of engaging the young people and the local community much more.
