Fulham FC Foundation are delighted to introduce group mentoring sessions at local Fulham Kicks sessions. Led by Fulham FC Foundation coaches, group mentoring gives the opportunity for a small group of young people to discuss and explore topics concerning them, whilst receiving support off the pitch, too.

We currently reach over 1,800 young people aged between 11-19 at Fulham Kicks, offering free football sessions across a variety of locations within South London. Fulham Kicks aims to engage and inspire young people whilst promoting their physical and mental well-being.

Kicks Group Mentoring will run for the first 30 minutes of Fulham Kicks sessions, to a specific selection of participants, over a seven-week period. The sessions will cover a range of topics, from employability skills to behaviour management, and the chance to receive further 1:1 support off the pitch. These sessions will run at the following Kicks Session from September 2023:

  • Pollards Hill Kicks - Seniors (Monday 6-7:30pm)
  • Kingston Kicks – Juniors & Seniors (Tuesday 4:30-7pm)
  • Brixton Hill Girls Kicks (Wednesdays 5:30-7pm)
  • Mitcham Kicks – Juniors & Seniors (Fridays 5-8pm)

Through our work at Fulham Kicks we know the huge impact group mentoring can have on young people. Young people with a mentor are 52% less likely to skip a day of school, whilst a high percentage (78%) of young people access good opportunities when in a mentorship scheme. Mentoring also aims to positively impact the mental wellbeing of young people.

“The ability to be able to speak about my problems and difficulties that may not be looked at as much. It gives people from the areas that may not be as blessed financially as others an opportunity to play football.” - Dolan, Fulham Kicks participant

“The Foundation are really looking forward to starting group mentoring at Kicks. We’re excited to offer support both on and off the pitch for our participants. As we begin in September, I’m expectant that, as mentors, we will learn more about the challenges and barriers our participants face on a day-to-day basis, which will help us adapt future sessions to tailor sessions based on the needs of the young people in our care.” – Jack Roberts, Youth Engagement Officer, Fulham FC Foundation
