Fulham may have one of our tougher tasks of the season on Saturday, but that doesn’t detract from Kenny Tete’s desire to use the game as a means of getting back on track.

After winning on the opening day, the Whites suffered a setback with a – albeit controversial – defeat by Brentford last week.

Asked about the value of responding away to Arsenal, Tete replied: “I think it’s really important.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good result [against Brentford] but we’ve had a good week and we’re looking forward to playing on Saturday.

“I think [Arsenal] have had some great signings. They are stronger than last year, but we’re looking forward to playing against them.

“While we’ve analysed our last game, we’ve also done our analysis on them. First of all, we have to focus on us, make sure we’re in the right shape.

“It’s a game of football so it can go both ways.”

While Tete has always been very highly rated by the Fulham faithful, last season he took his game to a new level.

Medical issues had previously hampered his progress at the Club, but he missed just five matches in 2022/23 through injury.

Tapping a wooden chair when it’s put to him that those concerns appear to be behind him, the Dutchman said: “It was key for me that I stayed fit, so that I could show my potential. I knew already what I could do, but I’d always been kind of struggling, so it was key to stay fit.

“It was not only a good year for me, but also for Fulham. We did really well, we were really solid, we knew exactly what to do, and let’s see if we can do better this year.”
