The Club is delighted to announce the permanent signing of 19-year-old Chris Donnell from Australian side Perth Glory.

The dynamic, highly-rated young midfielder was born in Glasgow before moving to Australia and working his way up the Perth Glory Academy. He went on to make his senior debut in a 2021 Australia Cup clash against Melbourne Victory.

He soon made his first A-League appearance back in April 2022 and finished the campaign having made two more. Donnell was also recently selected to represent the Young Socceroos squad at the 2023 AFC Under-20 Asian Cup.

The youngster, who will link up with our Under-21 side for the upcoming campaign, was delighted after putting pen to paper:

"I'm buzzing. Ever since I got told that there was potential for me to come here I've been really excited and now that it's finalised I can't wait to get going."

Having already spent a brief spell in South West London, Donnell is familiar with his coaches and teammates.

"When I was here on trial everyone was really nice and made me feel welcome. That's made it so easy since coming back again to get on with the boys and staff and focus on my football"

On his playing style, he added: "I leave everything on the pitch and try and play with as much passion as I can. I'd like to think I have a lot of energy as a player.

"My main aim is to try and get into that Under-21 team as much as I can," he continued. "Hopefully I can get to a point where I'm playing week in week out and then I'll be able to build from there."

Academy Director Sean Cullen added: "Chris is a youth international who joins us after a successful trial last season. Chris is a hard working and determined player, who also has good technical abilities that we believe will compliment our Under-21 squad well next season."
