Jamaica progressed to the Semi-Finals of the 2023 Gold Cup with a 1-0 victory over Guatemala on Sunday.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid played the full 90, and was in a creative mood in Cincinnati, teeing up Leon Bailey and Demarai Gray for shooting chances in the early stages.

He then registered the game’s first shot on target in the 18th minute, but the Guatemalan stopper, Nicholas Godoy, was equal to his effort.

A peachy De Cordova-Reid cross then almost assisted a stylish opener, but centre-back Damion Lowe was off target with his ambitious scorpion kick.

The winner arrived early in the second half when Luton Town left-back Amari’i Bell got well forward before slotting inside Godoy’s near post.

De Cordova-Reid was playmaking again midway through the second period, threading Bailey in on goal, but the Aston Villa man saw his shot well saved by Godoy.

Guatemala did put the Reggae Boyz under some pressure as they sought an equaliser, but De Cordova-Reid and his teammates held out to set up a Semi-Final clash with Mexico on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
