In April, Fulham FC Foundation’s Premier League Kicks programme hosted a free football tournament in partnership with Lambeth Council for young people coming from in and around Lambeth. This gave the young people a chance to compete with their friends in order to win the coveted Lambeth Summer World Cup trophy!
Taking place at Ferndale Community Sports Centre, close to 300 young people took part over the two days, which also included appearances from Fulham FC First Team stars, João Palhinha, Harry Wilson and Dan James, handing out the medals and trophy and signing autographs for the crowd assembled.
The Lambeth Summer World Cup also saw Fulham FC Foundation’s Youth and Community manager, Hus Mohammed, receive the Premier League ‘One of Our Own’ award after 16 years of involvement in Premier League Kicks. Hus was presented to the fans at Fulham FC’s next home game in recognition of his service. Hus started as a participant at Fulham Kicks, coming full circle as a coach for the programme and then as the Youth and Community Manager.

“The World Cup has been a great celebration of young people and football. Giving young people the chance to play, meet professional players and take silverware home will create memories that will last a lifetime. The World Cup allowed current participants and new participants to join in, create friendships and filter on to one of our thirty Kicks sessions we run weekly. Working together with Lambeth Council to use the power of football to support young people in some of the most high-need areas of Lambeth, through free football sessions and targeted interventions, has created a great Fulham Kicks community across the borough.” - Martin Fuller, Youth Engagement Officer.
“It’s hard to find free places to play football in Lambeth, coming to Fulham Kicks has really helped me keep healthy and out of trouble”. - Kali, Fulham Kicks participant.
