Last weekend young people from across Fulham’s Premier League Kicks programme had the opportunity to play on the pitch at Craven Cottage as part of the Paul Smithers Cup.

On Saturday 3rd June, Fulham Kicks hosted the Paul Smithers Cup, an annual tournament to honour the memory and life of former Youth and Community Manager Paul Smithers.

The competition kicked off with a minute round of applause, with everyone in attendance taking a moment to remember the impact Paul had on their lives.

Throughout the day, a considerable amount of competitive and impressive football was displayed from Fulham Kicks, Fulham Girls Kicks and Fulham Refugee Kicks participants.

Liam, a Fulham Kicks participant from the winning Mixed Junior Group, said:

“I really enjoyed Fulham's tournament, as it gave us a chance to play in a fantastic Premier League stadium. It was very fun as the tournament was very competitive and everyone wanted to lift the trophy, so I am happy we were the winning team to do that.

"I also can’t express my gratitude enough to coaches at Fulham Kicks like Paul Smithers, who have given many youngsters like myself the opportunities to be able to play free football and experience things like this, playing in a Premier League stadium.

Paul Smithers' incredible work impacted thousands of young people’s lives, it is important to us that we take time to honour the hard work completed by Paul, this work that young people are still benefiting from to this day across South West London.
