George Okkas' stunning free-kick against Blackburn Rovers has been voted the Academy Goal of the Season.
The special strike was the Cypriot's second goal of the game and helped our side to a dramatic 3-2 win.
Okkas' hit received 45% of the vote and it was followed by Ollie Gofford's incredible solo run against Spurs (24%). Aaron Loupalo-Bi got the bronze medal for his superb footwork and finish against Chelsea a few weeks ago (17%).
His technique and execution were on point and the youngster had a smile on his face while reminiscing about that day.
"I’m so pleased with this award because there have been lots of great goals scored this season and for mine to be voted as the best is a privilege. It’s an award that I will always carry with me and remember.
"I remember the score being 1-1. After I scored the equalising goal, we won a free kick at the edge of the box. At that time, the usual free-kick specialists in our team weren’t on the field.
"I was feeling confident and therefore I took on the responsibility. All of my teammates trusted me so I took it and in the end, thankfully it was an all-round great free kick and we ended up winning that game."
