Fulham FC’s very own Billy the Badger left his cosy Craven Cottage sett to help local school children raise money for their new school football pitch. Following in Bernd Leno’s footsteps, Billy donned the gloves as children from All Saints C of E Primary School tried to score as many penalties as they could throughout the day. But, did Billy keep a clean sheet throughout the day?

On the 17th May, pupils who attend All Saints C of E Primary School were given the opportunity to take penalties against Billy the Badger in their school playground. In a fantastic effort by the PTA of the school, Fulham FC Foundation were on hand to provide a memorable experience to the children, whilst raising money in a 50-50 sponsored penalty shootout.

On the day, over 400 penalties were taken and over 150 pupils raised £3,500 towards their new school football pitch.

Billy high-fives a student

“The visit from Billy the Badger was amazing, and something for the whole school to celebrate and be proud of. I hadn't properly appreciated just how excited the children would be to have Billy come to the school, and he didn't disappoint! Thank you to Fulham Football Club Foundation and the PTA for helping organise such a special event. This was a great way to cap off the fundraising for the new Astro pitch.” – Kieran Gorman, Head Teacher

“It was a real joy to see the excitement on the children’s faces when they saw Billy at their school. Putting these things on is a team sport with lots of hard work by people at the Foundation and the school, so a massive thank you to everyone who helped. This is just the start of a great relationship between the Foundation and the School, and we can’t wait to work with you all again in the future.” – Chris Brocklehurst, Chair of the PTA

“At a time where funding is being tightly squeezed, opportunities like this demonstrate the power of collaboration and how it helps different organisations to achieve a shared outcome. We are in a unique position to support schools in raising money to fundraise and it has been terrific to help support All Saints in their efforts to build a new football pitch creating an important legacy to the future footballers at the school.” - Kayleigh Bowers, Primary Education Manager
