Fulham FC Foundation are proud to be working with Movember, supporting their campaign for Men’s Health and raising awareness around the importance of mental health across South-West London.

Movember are the world’s leading men’s health charity, who have been raising awareness and funding projects and research around the world into men’s health, and transforming the way health services reach and support men, since 2003. Movember are a health movement and are inviting everyone to take part to improve everyone’s health and needs, including men’s.

Globally, more than two in three suicides are men. Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people aged 15-24, and 50% of all mental health problems have their onset before the age of 14. That is why talking about mental health is important from an early age.

A More Than A Game session

Since September 2022, Fulham FC Foundation has been talking to young people, their coaches and parents about the importance of mental health, by delivering Movember’s ground breaking Ahead of the Game programme. So far, we have supported over 1,100 young people, coaches and parents, who learned more about mental health, the signs of poor mental health and ways to support their and others’ mental health.

“In the workshop I learned about anxiety, how people feel when they undergo anxiety and how to be more self-aware and help them. Since the workshop I have used this knowledge to help my friends and myself when I undergo anxiety and how I can make them feel better. Being part of this project has benefitted my mental health by making me think things a bit more. I’ve been definitely less hot-headed and I’ve been opening up to people.” - Jamie, Ahead of the Game participant

“We really enjoy working alongside Movember. Delivering Ahead Of The Game to our participants, parents and coaches has been really impactful. The Ahead Of The Game programme is world class, and the training we received from Movember was of the highest quality. Movember have been really hands on with their commitment in working collaboratively with us. We were recently invited to their event launching this year’s Mo campaign, illustrating the strong relationship we have developed.” - Ben McIlwaine, Mental Wellbeing Practitioner, Fulham FC Foundation

On Saturday 7th October, Fulham FC Foundation celebrated their partnership with Movember at Fulham FC’s historic stadium, Craven Cottage, during the Premier League game against Sheffield United. On the matchday, more than 24,300 fans were encouraged to join the Movember movement, support the campaign and break the silence by talking about mental health and tackling the stigma associated with it through a variety of messages on the pitchside LEDs and matchday programme.
