This season, at each Premier League fixture, we will be welcoming different communities that Fulham FC Foundation engage with across South West London. For many of these Fulham fans it will be their first ever game at Craven Cottage, and hopefully their first win!
Each of these community groups will be represented by a ‘Foundation Champion’, someone who embodies the values of Fulham FC, who will be tasked with presenting the match ball pre-game.
Against Brentford, our Foundation Champion was Carmeleta, a long-time Fulham FC Foundation participant who regularly attends Fulham’s Girls Development Centre and Girls Kicks activities. Post-match we spoke to Carmeleta to find out more about her life as Fulham fan and her experiences at Fulham FC Foundation.

How did you first join Fulham FC Foundation’s programmes?
There were Fulham coaches who worked at my school. They helped me develop my love for football and made me aware of the programmes they have to offer.
What do you enjoy most about Girls Development Centre and Girls Kicks?
I enjoy seeing my friends every week, getting to play football and letting it be a distraction from school and just life in general.
Who is your favourite Fulham player?
My favourite Fulham player is João Palhinha because he plays the same position as me and he is the best player in the whole squad. I also really like Mary Southgate because she’s very kind, a great defender and very inspiring.

What do you enjoy most about watching football at Craven Cottage?
I enjoy the atmosphere of the fans, watching my team play and, of course, hopefully watching Fulham win every single one of their games!
How did it feel to be out there on matchday?
It felt really cool to come out through the tunnel where the players walk. Also, I got to hold the ball that my team would be playing with, and that thought made the experience very exciting.
How does it feel to be a member of the Fulham Family?
I feel very privileged to be a part of the Fulham Family because everyone is very friendly, kind and considerate. Everyone there is accepting and shares the same amount of passion towards football as me.
