Manchester City v Fulham | Saturday 2nd September | 3pm | Etihad Stadium | #MCIFUL

The opposition

  • After winning the treble last season, City have picked up where they left off, and are now the only side to boast a 100 per cent record after three Premier League games.
  • Their previous outing was far from routine, though, with Erling Haaland missing a penalty prior to Rodri snatching an 88th minute winner away to Sheffield United.
  • City will be without Pep Guardiola on Saturday as their boss continues to recover from back surgery, with assistant Juanma Lillo taking his place on the touchline.

Man City team news

Phil Foden shrugged off illness to come off the bench at Bramall Lane to assist the winner, and the England man is fully fit for the weekend. Defenders John Stones and Manuel Akanji could return having shaken off knocks, but Kevin De Bruyne is out. Matheus Nunes signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers on deadline day, but he will not have trained with the team ahead of the Fulham game.

Fulham team news

Willian is on the mend but Saša Lukić is out, while Tom Cairney is a doubt after picking up an injury against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek. Calvin Bassey returns from suspension.

Player insight

Antonee Robinson thinks Fulham have already shown this season that we can go into big games with zero fear.

“Looking back to the Arsenal game, it just shows our resilience, going down to 10 men and still being able to scrape a goal back and get something from the game against a really good side away from home.

“That’s the beauty of the Premier League. We turn up to try and win games, but we do genuinely believe we can go anywhere and get a result, so it’s no different on Saturday.”
