Tom Cairney has just experienced an expensive international break, after a freak incident landed him with a £900 garage bill.

The Fulham captain had fans in stiches when he posted a photo of his smashed windscreen on Instagram, after a Rodrigo Muniz effort in training found its way into the car park.

What makes it even more bizarre, is that Aleksandar Mitrović managed to do exactly the same last year.

“Our strikers are rubbish at shooting,” TC joked when asked how it happened. “No, there are these massive, giant nets in between the goal and the car park, and somehow Rodrigo’s took a shot that’s hit the crossbar, spun up at the perfect angle and just landed straight on my windscreen.

“I was inside at the time, and then all the boys came running in laughing and screaming, ‘TC! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!’ And then I knew exactly what had happened.

“But two in two years is crazy! [Rodrigo] offered to pay for it, but I said no. It’s just one of those things isn’t it, so that’s £900 down the pan!

“Carlos Vinicius was laughing so much that I thought it was him at first, but it was his Brazilian friend…”

Surely now that it’s happened twice, Cairney should consider moving spots?

“I could, but I think it’s good for team morale!”
