Fulham FC Foundation’s new health and wellbeing initiative The Walking Football Corner is a friendly, welcoming and non-judgemental space for Walking Footballers to meet others and share experiences around health and wellbeing.
At every session, the group is introduced to a health and wellbeing topic that they have chosen to discuss and have the opportunity to share their own thoughts and listen to others’ ideas and experiences. So far, the group has discussed topics such as the five ways to wellbeing, having and managing difficult conversations, mindful eating, and football and wellbeing.
The group meets every three months at the Earl Beatty, which is a space close to Fulham FC Training Ground, where a number of Fulham FC Foundation’s Walking Football sessions take place.

The most recent Walking Football Corner was held at the end of June, when participants discussed the topic of ‘football and wellbeing’, shared positive football memories, and how football is important for our wellbeing. Participants also had the opportunity to listen and talk to Les Strong, a name familiar to so many Fulham fans, who played 427 games for the Club between 1971 and 1983.
“It was an absolutely brilliant idea to have Les Strong as a special guest. His mere presence was inspirational and made all attendees feel valued by Fulham FC Foundation.” - Jamie, The Walking Football Corner participant

In a recent survey, 93% of those who have taken part in the Walking Football Corner reported having improved mental wellbeing, and feeling positive, energised and supported as a result.
"It’s an opportunity to have a friendly chat with fellow walking footie players and get to know one another more. Similarly chatting with the foundations reps." - Tom, The Walking Football Corner participant
"It’s been brilliant organising the Walking Football Corner, and providing an additional social outlet to our participants. We know that talking to others and sharing experiences is positive for our overall wellbeing, and that’s what the Walking Football Corner is all about." - Athina Papailiou, Mental Wellbeing Practitioner, Fulham FC Foundation
