The opposition
Last season was a disastrous one for Birmingham as they were relegated to the third tier for the first time in 30 years, but 2024/25 has begun promisingly. After claiming a late draw in their opener at home to Reading, theyβve taken maximum points from two away trips since, beating Wycombe Wanderers and Leyton Orient by one goal margins.
They booked their place in Round Two of the Carabao Cup with another slender away win, defeating Charlton Athletic 1-0 despite playing the final 12 minutes with 10 men after a red card for Dion Sanderson.
Team news
π΅ Fulham loanee Luke Harris is ineligible to feature against his parent club, while Sanderson, Lee Buchanan and Alfie Chang are injured. Defender Ben Davies is in line for a debut following his loan move from Rangers at the weekend.
π€ Marco Silva will be making changes to his side for the trip to the Midlands. In his pre-match press conference he confirmed that Jorge Cuenca will start, while our other summer arrivals will also be hoping for some game time.
