Fulham Under-21s will be looking to make it five wins in a row when they travel to Woking in the National League Cup on Tuesday evening, 7pm kick-off.

The state of play

With just two teams from the eight-team group able to qualify for the knockout stages, it’s likely that our Young Whites will need to win both remaining games to reach the Quarter-Finals of the National League Cup.

The current standings in Fulham U21s' National League Cup group

Maidenhead – who beat us 2-0 at York Road in our opening game of the competition – are currently in pole position, with Brighton’s youngsters only behind on goal difference.

Our Young Whites are among the chasing pack, with four teams tied together on three points. Despite a disappointing defeat at Maidenhead to start our campaign, an impressive 2-0 victory at Wealdstone last month brought us back into the mix for qualification.

A look at Woking

Now in their sixth consecutive season in the National League, Woking are another one of the sides who may have to pick up maximum points from their next two games to reach the last eight.

Managed by former Coventry City, Leeds United and Portsmouth midfielder Michael Doyle, they currently sit 18th in the National League table. It’s been a mixed start to the campaign for the Cardinals; they won three of their first four games but have only won two of their 17 league matches since.

However, they have recently become tougher to beat, conceding just seven goals in their last seven matches, holding Forest Green Rovers and Southend United to draws and recording a 1-0 victory against Boston United. They’ve only conceded a goal more than Gateshead and two more than Sutton United – both sides who are currently in the top seven.

But it’s a lack of goals at the other end which has proved Woking’s biggest weakness, with only Braintree Town [18] and Ebbsfleet United [15] scoring less than their 19 goals.

Tickets

Tickets for Tuesday evening’s game are available online. Adult tickets are available for £8, concessions and 14–22-year-olds can watch the action for a fiver, while under-14s tickets cost £3.
