Burnley U21 1-1 Fulham U21

Fulham Under-21s drew 1-1 with Burnley on Monday evening to finish top of Group G in the Premier League Cup.

Hayden Mullins' side will now await confirmation of their Round of 16 opponent.

Due to our Under-18s' FA Youth Cup tie at Liverpool the day before, we named a much younger 21s side, with striker Tom Wingate and winger Tom Olyott both making their full 21s debuts.

The hosts showed some early intent, with Will Hugill bombing down the right and winning his side a corner with just three minutes on the clock.

Both sides were at battle in what was a physical game in chilly Lancashire conditions.

The young Clarets took the lead on 35 minutes, when Tommy McDermott cut onto his left foot and curled a stunning strike into the top left corner. 

Our lads responded excellently to the set-back, finding an equaliser just minutes later through Caelan Avenell, who rose highest to nod his header past goalkeeper Charlie Caspar.

We saw very little goalmouth action until the 65th minute, when Adrion Pajaziti produced a stinging effort from range and forced Caspar into a strong save.

Then, just moments later up the other end, McNally made an equally impressive save with his legs to deny McDermott.

Hugill very nearly won the game for Burnley late on, latching onto a square ball from the byline before thankfully only finding the side netting.
