On Sunday 11th February, Fulham FC Foundation hosted its inaugural Frame Football Festival at Fulham FC Training Ground, Motspur Park.

Frame Football is an adapted format of football for individuals who have a physical disability and use Kaye Walkers/Frames to assist mobility. It’s a fun and sociable game where players can develop skills to control and move the football within their frame.

With nearly 20 players taking part from three different clubs; the day started with stations of different football activities and games. Following a break for lunch the players took part in a round robin festival format of matches, with goals galore! Running alongside the event we also had a Cosmo Reaction Challenge, with a hotly contested leader board of players, coaches and parents taking part. Two players from Corringham Athletic were neck-&-neck right up to the end of the day and after a final play-off to see who would be crowned champion, they matched each other one last time and settled for a draw!

The players were also lucky enough to be joined by four of the Fulham FC Women’s team, who came in to watch some of the matches and then presented all the players with their medals for taking part in the festival.

“Frame Football is still quite new in its development and therefore teams are few and far between across the UK but are gradually growing in numbers as people find out more about the sport. We started our Frame Football sessions at Fulham FC Foundation in April 2022 in partnership with Cerebral Palsy (CP) Sport, the national disability sports organisation supporting people with cerebral palsy to be able to access and enjoy being physically active throughout their lives.

“One of the things the children who attend our sessions have regularly asked for is an opportunity to play against other Frame Football Teams and represent Fulham so we’re delighted to have been able to create that opportunity for our players, and everybody seemed to have an amazing time. Fingers crossed there’ll be many more festivals in the future!” - Katy Shephard, DisAbility Development Manager, Fulham FC Foundation

“Wonderful day, great football, amazing experience. We all had a day to remember at the Fulham FC Frame Football Festival. The organisation and thought that went into the day was amazing, and Katy and coaches did the club proud. It was great to see all the kids and families from different clubs having lots of fun, and everyone from Corringham hopes this event will happen again. Amazing!” - Gavin, parent, Corringham Athletic

“Beacon Hill FC Flames were so excited to attend the Frame Football Festival at Fulham and it didn’t disappoint. The kids left beaming after a fantastic day of games and matches. The Fulham FC team were brilliant, coaching and helping our players, and the support all the other teams and parents provided made it an unforgettable day!” - Alex, Coach, Beacon Hill FC Flames

Everybody at Fulham FC Foundation would like to thank all those who attended the event and helped to make it a massive success and we look forward to making the next one even bigger and better!
