First Brazil Goal For Andreas

Andreas Pereira opened his account for Brazil with a fabulous solo goal in their dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico on Saturday night.

Not five minutes had been played when Andreas received Savio’s pass and sent two defenders to the floor with his footwork, before lashing inside the near post from just inside the area.

Andreas departed the friendly on the hour mark with the score at 2-0, courtesy of a Gabriel Martinelli effort, though Mexico fought back with two goals of their own, the second coming in the third minute of stoppage time.

But Brazil were not done, snatching victory through Endrick’s pinpoint header in the 96th.

The United States’ Copa America preparation match was less prosperous. Antonee Robinson was given the full 90, and Tim Ream just over an hour, as three late goals put the gloss on a 5-1 victory for Colombia.

In European Championship warm-ups, Saša Lukić played the first half of Serbia’s 3-0 win in Sweden, João Palhinha featured for the entirety of Portugal’s narrow 2-1 defeat by Croatia, and Timothy Castagne got 64 minutes under his belt of Belgium’s 3-0 win against Luxembourg.

At Under-20 level, Martial Godo came off the bench as the England Elite Squad got their trip to Croatia off to a winning start on Friday by beating Sweden 2-1.

In other international news, Alex Iwobi was named Midfielder of the Year at the Nigeria Pitch Awards.
